The Chief of Kpandai Nana Akosa has expressed anger and dismay at the negative attitude of workers of Kpandai district assembly towards work.

According to the Chiefs, workers at the district Assembly have  taken the people for granted by working for only two days instead of five working days. ’’There is a canker that need to be uprooted immediately; workers at the assembly have taken for us for granted amidst wanton dissipation of state resources’’ the chief lamented.

The chiefs also accused decentralized department in Kpandai district misusing government resources at the expense of the development in the area.

The Chief of Kpandai lamented that workers come to work only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and on few occasions on Thursdays and commute to Tamale every weekends, departing on Thursday and resume work on Monday.

Nana Akosa appealed to the northern regional coordinating council to institute measures to ensure that workers stay in the district.

The Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna said the practice is unacceptable and directed all metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives to be up and doing.

Alhaji Limuna warns that the RCC will not tolerate any truant worker in any part of the region. Alhaji Mohammed stated this when he addressed workers of Kpandai district assembly.

He said staff of either the  assemblies or Decentralized departments  cannot decide when to go to work or not for reasons best known to them and urged them to report any challenge facing the district as workers so that necessary solutions can be administered.

Touching on professionalism among public sector workers in Ghana, Alhaji Limuna urged civil servants to remain technical people or resign their positions and join the front line politics.

But the District Chief Executive for Kpandai, Jatoh Moayi Jasper, said the people may not understand the work of some officers at the assembly and jump into conclusions.

Honorable Jatoh Jasper, however, praised his staff saying the district has best workers as compared to other districts even though it is a young district.
