Mampuris commends Konkombas and Bimobas for smoking peace pipe

The Mamprusi Development Association has commended the chiefs and elders of Bimobas and Konkombas in Mamprugu for their resolve and pledge to maintain a sustainable peace in Mamprugu traditional area.
The pledge for a lasting peace by the chiefs on 21st June, 2014 before the overlord of Mamprugu Kingdom Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga demonstrates the preparedness of overlord and readiness of the two factions to co-exist and bury their long aged differences.
A statement issued in Tamale and signed by the interim National President, Mr Issahaku Ibrahim said the peace agreement signed by two ethic groups shows how mature and peace-loving the people of mamprugu are and also indicate that, conflict was not an answer to the problem of the people.
It calls on those who have are part of the peace process to ensure that it is sustained to bring development to the people for them to use the resources judiciously rather than using it to cater for peace keepers.
The Mamprugu Development Association also pleaded with people who they say are using the differences there for their personal interest to be mindful of efforts being taken to resolve the impasse for the people to stay together in peace and in harmony to foster development.
The statement said the Konkombas and the Bimobas have demonstrated to the whole world that they are capable of handling the differences without outsiders.
The Association expresses the hope that disputes in other parts of the Mamprugu kingdom will emulate the peace pipe smoked by Konkombas and Bimobas to ensure a conflict-free nation.
The statement thanks the overlord of Mamprugu kingdom for his able leadership to ensuring peace in the area.
It also commends leaders of both Bimobas and Konkombas for realizing the need to co-exist as well as northern regional minister and four district chiefs executives in Mamprugu for their immense contribution towards ensuring the sustenance of peace in Mamprugu Kingdom.
