MP to petition gov’t over soldier action in Bunkprugu

The Member of Parliament for Bunkpurugu, Solomon Boar has hinted that he will petition government through the interior minister over the killing of one of his constituents, Jabiuk Duut, 36. 

The Bunkpurugu MP said the said military officer must be brought to book to deter others from such acts.

Hon. Boar said if government fails to respond to his petition appropriately, he will halt the interior minister before parliament to explain the action of the security detailed to maintain law and order in Bunkpurugu district.

The visible angry MP described the act as bizarre, cruel and inhuman which should not be allow to happen in this era our current democratic dispensation.   

’’I will personally petition the interior minister on behalf of the chiefs and people in Bunkprugu to look into the matter’’ the MP told family and community members who gathered at the decease house to mourn.

He assured the people that, he follow the matter to its local conclusion adding until justice is done, he will not relent on his effort to ensure justice for the decease family.

Speaking to Zaa News, the Bunkpurugu District Police Commander, ASP Felix Kumado who confirmed the incident said the police have launched an investigation into the matter.

On allegation of molestation and extortion of money from the residents, ASP Kumado said officers detailed have been advised to conduct themselves and not to infringe on people’s fundamental human rights.
