The president of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Issah the first has expressed shock at the sudden demise of president John Evans Atta Mills.
The president on behalf of the chiefs in the region extends its earnest condolences to the first lady Dr Naado Mills, the entire family, the party and the people of Ghana for the loss of an illustrious son of Ghana.
In a statement issued in Tamale and signed by the Assistant Registrar Adam Gariba Mohammed on behalf of the president thank government for the smooth transition of power in accordance with article 60 clause 6 of the constitution.
The house also recognizes the late president readiness to carry out government business in spite of his health challenges and urged the people of Ghana to emulate his exemplary leadership of sacrifice and dedication to national duty.
In related development, a school mate of the late president John Evans Atta Mills in the northern region, Lawyer Ibrahim Mahama has expressed shock over sudden passing of Ghana’s president. Lawyer Ibrahim said upon hearing the sad news at 1500 hours through the rank and file of the citizenry, he felt it through his spine and veins.
In his condolence message on behalf of Maligu Chambers in Tamale, Lawyer Ibrahim stressed that, Ghana has lost a great one and irreplaceable son and servant. He extends his condolences to the family, party members and the new president John Dramani Mahama. Lawyer Ibrahim also pray for the strength and endurance for the family in their moment of great shock. He expressed the hope that the leadership of his party and government would continue the good work in governing the country.
