Residents in the Northern Region will soon no longer have to travel to Kumasi or Accra for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan.
Even though the MRI is in the Tamale Teaching Hospital, its capacity is not enough to take care of the people in Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
The management of the hospital gave assurance that a bigger and more efficient MRI machine has been installed and personnel to man it are currently undergoing training.
The outgoing Chief Executive Officer of TTH, Dr Ken Sagoe, stated this when the Gukpe-Naa, Alhaji Abdulai Allhasan visited the hospital yesterday and presented two hundred tubers of yam and a bull to the hospital.
The Gukpe-Naa took the opportunity to also acquaint himself with the activities at the hospital.
Meanwhile, Dr Ken Sagoe has since handed over the management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital to Dr Prosper Akanbong as acting CEO which has been endorsed by the board and management of the hospital.
His compulsory retirement comes off in view of the upcoming pressing national and international engagements.
A letter signed by the outgoing TTH CEO, Dr Ken Sagoe, thanked all management of TTH, stakeholders and collaborators for their immense support he received during his five and a half years tenure as the CEO.
