Vodafone HealthLines fans donates GHC 15 000 for surgeries

Fans of Vodafone’s multiple award-winning television programme, HeatlhLine, have raised over fifteen thousand Ghana cedis (GHC15, 000) to pay for additional surgeries for patients in need of urgent medical attention.  The surgeries will be carried out during Season 4 of the TV show that will be launched soon.

The HealthLine is Ghana’s favourite TV show. The show has won TV Programe of The Year for two years in a row, since its launch in 2011.

The television show caters for the full cost of surgeries for people suffering from various defects and life threatening conditions who otherwise cannot afford to pay for their medical bills.

Vodafone Ghana always gives customers the opportunity to be a part of the programme by donating through a short code. Part of the show focuses on providing the full cost of surgeries, for patients from deprived communities who cannot afford the costs for their medical care.

Following the launch of HealthLine, several viewers got in touch with Vodafone to express their desire to contribute to the programme.

This was made possible with the introduction of the *133# shortcode, which gave viewers the opportunity to donate anything from 0.50 peswas to Ghana cedis (GHC 20).

Head of Brand and Corporate Communications for Vodafone Ghana, Carmen Bruce – Annan, expressed his gratefulness for the donations and public support so far.

Mr Bruce Annan also thanked everyone who donated, saying Vodafone is overwhelmed with the response and will continue to give fans the opportunity to donate more in future.

The Vodafone Healthline has supported and transformed the lives of hundreds of Ghanaians who have undergone various surgeries for life-threatening conditions including hydrocephalus, cataract, hernia, fibroids and heart-related problems among others.

It has also educated and demystified various myths on health related conditions. Vodafone assured Healthline fans that production for season four is underway and will soon hit the screen.
