We feel ashamed of ourselves for bad road network in the north-Haruna Iddrisu admits

Government has assured the people of Kumbungu district for his commitment in ensuring that the deplorable road network in the area is work on.

Government says it is not neglecting the concerns of the people but is resource constrains and called on the people to exercise restrain as it makes efforts to fine money to continue the about 40 kilometers Tamale-Kumbungu and Dalun road.

 speaking at the final funereal rites of the former District Chief Executive for Kumbungu, Alhaji Iddi Manza Mahama, minister of employment and labour relations Haruna Iddrisu said government is considering increasing the road fund to enable it  get enough resources to bad road network in the country.

Mr Iddrisu who joined hundreds of mourners of Kumbungu DCE at Dalun said the people of Kumbungu district also deserve better roads like their play-mate in Savelugu.

The labour minister in his respond to the recent demonstration by the youth in the area said they (government officials) were not happy when they hear about demonstration and pleaded with the elders and Imams to prevail on the youth to exercise patients with government to mobilize enough resources for the completion of the road.

’’From Tamale to Dalun should have taken us less than 15 minutes but we spend more than that’’ we know that something has be done about it so please bear with government for the continuation of work anytime soon.

’’I have hands in the award of contract of the road to Alhaji Mahama Sherif of Savanna construction but he has done his part and government is trying to get money for him to continue the work’’ Haruna added.

The Tamale south Member of Parliament said the President; John Dramani Mahama will not be happy to campaign on the deplorable nature of the road and that the government is trying to increase the road fund to enable it get more resource to address problems confronting the road sector.
