Zoom Lion embarks on fumigation of public toilets in the northern region


The National Mosquito Control Program (NAMCOP) unit of the Zoom lion Ghana limited has embarked on a fumigation and disinfection exercise in the northern region.  The exercise is to ensure that all the breeding places of mosquitoes are fumigated to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.

The one and a half month fumigation and disinfection exercise is expected cover about one hundred and fifteen (115) public toilets in the northern region. 

The exercise according to Zoom Lion Ghana limited is to prevent the public from contracting malaria, cholera and other sanitation related diseases in the northern region and the country as a whole.

The head of NACOMP of zoom lion, Ebeneezer Kwame Addae disclosed this to Zaa News at the fumigation of the Victory Cinema electoral area public toilet in the Tamale metropolis.

Mr. Addae said that Zoom Lion expects to reduce the number of adult mosquitoes to avert an epidemic of sanitation related diseases. He said the exercise forms part of the Zoom Lion social responsibility in combating malaria diseases nation wide.

The Vector Control Officer of the Zoom Lion Ghana in the northern, Abdul-Aziz Yelsuma said the exercise is targeting 115 public toilets within the Tamale metropolis. Mr. Yelsuma appealed to the public to desist from disposing of empty containers and sachet water bags to keep the environment clean.

He appealed to Vulganizers to empty their containers they used in repairing lorry tires to reduce mosquito breeding in the Tamale metropolis and the region as whole.
