An Islamic Scholar of the Hablulah Institute, Shiehk Ilias Umar has encouraged the youth to take up vocational skills training to empower themselves. According to him, when the youth venture into Technical and Vocational Training they will become economically independent in the country.
The Scholar made this remark during the graduation ceremony of Golden Touch Beauty Center in Tamale, where 23 young women passed out and received certificates in various skills training from Ghana National Vocational Training Institute.
Shiehk Ilias says apprenticeship, and skills training which combines classroom and on-the-job training, provides opportunities for the youth to acquire skills required to perform specialised jobs. That, he says, was crucial to making them independent to start their own businesses to cater for themselves and their families.
He further says youth empowering themselves economically can help address the unemployment rate which is bedeviling the nation currently.
”learning a vocation is important to the development of women, such that they can be able to cater for their families and be productive to the country”, he said.
Yushawu Iddrisu, a representative from World Business Support, advised the graduates to endeavour to use the skills and the training they have acquired judiciously in order to stand out amongst their competitors. He encouraged the graduates to be disciplined, assertive and innovative in their fields of discipline to justify the investment made in them.
