Reports reaching Zaa News indicate that the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Hospital in the Tamale metropolis has been closed down following a mob attack Monday at 9:30 p.m.
All patients and their relatives were ordered by the hospital authorities to leave the hospital and seek healthcare elsewhere.

A relative of a patient who was said to be making a loud phone loud at the Out-Patients Department (OPD) was asked to leave the OPD and go outside. He apparently got angry and refused to obey the hospital order. Security at the hospital was therefore compelled to use minimum force to get him off the premises which further infuriated him.

Eye witnesses say the man went home and mobilized people from his neighborhood to attack the hospital. Hospital authorities as at the time of going to the press were not ready to speak on the matter.

SDA services
SDA is one of the missionary hospitals which has gained the public trust in terms of healthcare delivery in Tamale and beyond. It was one of the dedicated private hospitals that provided services to the people during the Ghana Medical Association’s strike in Ghana three weeks ago.
