Health workers at Sung Community Health and Planning Services (CHIPs) compound is pleading with the people in the area not to blame for them their inability to provide proper health care to them.
The nurses said they have done their best under the circumstances and it behooves on the opinion leaders and politicians in the area to put the citizens health first above their perochial interest.
Pouring their frustration and their disappointment at the behavior of Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDco) for disconnecting lights in the facility, the nurses said the manner in which the lights was taken off beats their imagination.
The lights according to the nurses was disconnected ‘angrily’ by NEDCO official belief to be the Gushegu area supervisor, Mr Stephen Mensah.
The nurses were surprise that without any consultation with the community members and District health Directorate and without human face, a deprived health electricity will be taken off.
The angry health workers who have relocated fridge they use to stored vacines to their house expressed shock that NEDCO as a state agency will take off lights of another state own critical facility without following due process.
The disconnection, they explained has nothing to do with the facility owing NEDCO but due to what described as petty politics in the Karaga Constituency between NPP and NDC.
The facility according to the health workers got connected in April 2019 through the effort NDC member of Parliament for Karaga, Hon.SUALIHU DANDAAWA Alhassan who the Deputy minister of energy in charge of Petroleum Dr Mohammed Amin Adam Anta is bent on unseating in 2020 elections.
A street lights provided by the incumbent MP sighted by Zaa News was cited in front of the facility with lights but strangely, the CHIPS compound has no lights.
The facility was constructed in 2015 by the Karaga district assembly under the government mandatory projects.
Asked if stakeholders were aware of their predicaments, the nurses told Zaa News that all stakeholders have been informed about the situation but no action is being taken.
The community members, Assemblyman, health committee chairman and district districtorate and the DCE are all aware, the frustrated nurses stated.
The community nurse at the facility who was upset at the behavior of NEDCO official said residents in the area should not blame them should the unfortunate thing happen to any patient.
The community health nurse, Mrs Mery Adengiba said she now uses her phone lights to deliver pregnant women but now she can’t because is risky.
I do go to the community to deliver. I will sack expectant mothers, I have done my best and God is my witness, Mrs Adengiba fumed.
She continued; they should go to Gushegu district hospital, when the Doctor ask I will tell our situation to him, Mrs Adengiba lamented.
The nurses warned residents in the put not to allow politicians to play with their lives whilst they have access to quality health care.
No response from NEDCO
Even though a staff of NEDCO in the area (withheld) confirmed to Zaa News that they disconnected the lights from the facility, efforts to get the area supervisor side of the issue prove futile. He has not responded to our massages on allegations that he carried out the disconnection.
Equipment sighted by zaa news
The deprived health facility was fortunate to have been supported by World Vission, an international nongovernmental organization and the UNICEF with tools.
A branded delivery bed donated by world wission was seem gathering dust and cabwebs because delivery cant be done inside the facility.

On Friday during the district turn of the meet the press encounter, the District Chief Executive for Karaga, Mr Alhassan Yabdoo denied of having knowledge about the issue.
