imageThe University for Development Studies Medical School has been listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with the name: School of Medicine and Health Sciences. It is the first and only university in Ghana to have been recognized by the world directory of medical schools.

The recognition follows UDS open door policy for its neighbors in the sub region and the international community which led to collaboration with the Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI) launching a joint medical training program for persons across the globe to have the opportunity to be part of a unique medical program.

Vice Chancellor of UDS, professor Gabriel Ayum Teye who announced this at the 16th congregation said the GIMI/UDS program will start this academic year. About 170 prospective applicants across the country have already applied, professor Teye said.

Professor Teye said with this international recognition, the medical school’s efforts at providing specialist training in various fields of medicine for doctors would be enhanced.
Currently, the Doctor of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences is ongoing while a program in dentistry and pharmacy are in the offing, the vice chancellor added.
The effort is expected to produce a significant number of doctors to meet the demands of the health sector of the country.
