The Regent of Bimbilla in the Nanung Traditional Area, Andani Dasana has commended chiefs and people in the area for celebrating this year’s Damba festival peacefully.
Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu said the enthusiasm with which the people participated in the celebration shows the people’s respect for culture and their readiness for development.
Nyelinboligu Naa stated this at his palace after a successful celebration of the Damba festival. The festival is an annual occasion which is celebrated to pray to ancestors and to exhibit the norms and virtues of the Nanumba kingdom.
The Bimbilla festival was on the theme; ‘Promoting Peace and Unity through Culture’.
It was also to show love and respect among the people of Nanung and the whole nation as a whole.
The Nyelinboligu Naa reminded Ghanaians that peace is a major factor for championing development and they must therefore work towards that.
At the celebration, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare stressed that, “culture is what provides people with a unique identity, adding that there is therefore the need to protect it”.
