Four in the grips of police for cattle rustling



Four persons are in the grips of the northern police command for allegedly stealing cattle at Vogu in the Kumbungu district of the northern region, authorities said.  According to officials, the four were arrested on Saturday night at about 2:45 a.m.

According to a nomadic (fulani) eye witness, whose name was only given as Ahmed, he reportedly saw the suspects in a Kia truck with registration number AW 2258-11, and quickly alerted the owner of the cattle under his care.

In response, angry residents mustered courage and managed to arrest the suspects and later handed them over to the police, an eye witness said, adding that the Kia truck was set ablaze. The police confirmed the incident and have promised to provide further details on the incident.
