A District Chief Ranger officer from the forestry commission in Tamale, Nathanael Asante Kwache has urged individuals to invest in the planting of trees in order to sustain the environment.

According to him, due to the continuous indiscriminate felling of trees by certain individuals, very essential trees are gradually going extinct and could be detrimental to the environment. He said trees serve as windbreaks, beautify the environment and also protects buildings from destruction during heavy rainfalls and should be protected at all times.

He called on all individuals to join hands with the forestry commission to build more trees in order to achieve government’s green Ghana project initiative.  Nathanael Asante gave this advice during a marketing and upgrading training program organized by woodworkers association of Ghana in partnership with Golivil Company limited.

The training brought together artisans in the wood industry, members of Ghana enterprise agency (GEA), RAINS, Students from Tamale Vocational Training Institute (TVTI), Association of Small Scale Enterprises (ASSE) amongst others.
