Market women hawk in streets of Tamale

0

Some market women trading in the Aboabo Market have vowed to remain hawking in the Tamale-Nyakpala road in spite of the dangers associated with their trading activities.

The traders have invaded the road for over four months now under the watch of the Metropolitan Assembly. According to the traders, the ongoing construction in Aboabo has created a lot of inconvenience and the alternative trading place the assembly directed them to transact business is not favoring them.

The assembly is currently constructing a lorry park and stalls with funding from World Bank in Aboabu market to create a serene atmosphere for business activities. Before the start of the project, the assembly had entreated traders to transact their business around Tamale West Hospital.

But the traders say they are losing most of their clients and the only way remained to do business is to hawk in the street.

However, they refused to go there, and according to them the place is far and they don’t sell their items at that place. That is the cause of risking their lives on the road side doing their businesses.
