Oxfam-NORSAAC supports 1,000 vulnerable from Zabzugu&Sagnarigu with food

About 1,000 individual households in the Sagnarigu municipality and Zabzugu district have been supported with 2,400 food items by NORSAAC, a pro-marginalized and policy influencing organization with funding from Oxfam Ghana.

The municipal health directorate also received Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including nose mask and hand washing facilities to help health personnel at Community-Based-Health Planning Service (CHPS) Compound.

The items include rice, cooking oil worth about 177,000 Ghana cedis were presented to the vulnerable individual at a short ceremony at Sagnarigu Kukuo.

 The support forms part of Oxfam’s emergency respond to vulnerable groups such as persons living with disability and the extremely poor aged who were not spared by the covid-19 pandemic. 

The support is expected to cushion the vulnerable during covid-19 pandemic period.

Executive Director for NORSAAC, Mr Alhassan Mohammed Awal said the support is formed part their continue effort to lessened the suffering of vulnerable.   

NORSAAC, Mr Awal explained will monitor the distribution of the PPE at the facilities that needs them.

Programs officer at Oxfam in Tamale Mr Naapi Johnson told beneficiaries that Oxfam was committed to the well-being of everybody, especially during situations such as covid-19.

Oxfam interventions cut across the country and similar presentations will be made in Savannah region and other regions. Mr Naapi emphasized the need for covid-19 protocols to be observed for normalcy to return.

He reminded residents about covid-19 and advised that they adhere to safety protocols to prevent further spread of the virus.
