Pishigu Lana donates to flood victims

There Paramount Chief of Pishigu traditional area in the Karaga district of the Northern Region,, Naa Alhassan Andani has donated relief items to the victims of flood in Nawuni and Afa Yili in the Kumbungu district.

The items included over 47 pieces of  tents for temporary shelter,  48 sleeping bags, 73 camping matress, blankets, used clothing, rice and cooking oil and Mosquito coils worth thousands of Ghana cedis .

The items was sent from Denmark by the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) Through Camilla Nielsen-Englyst

The Pishigu Lana expressed his sadness about the unfortunate situation and urged them to remain calm.

The donation was presented to the chief of Dalun Naa Amidu Mahama at a short ceremony at Nawuni by the Special Aid to Pishigu Lana, Alhaji Iddrisu Mustapha.

The revered chief who is the Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana Alhaji Mustapha said was sadden upon hearing disturbing situation.

Assembly man for Nawuni electoral area, Alhassan Yussif thanked the chief for his kinnd gesture and pray for Allah’s grace in everything he does.

The Magazeya of Nawuni, Mrs Ayi Alhassan on behalf of the women expressed their gratitude to
the chief for his timely intervention. The items, Mrs Ayi said would help lessened their suffering.

She also thanked the independent Parliamentary candidate Mr Abdul Fatawu Abukari who was the visit to visit them when the floods hit them. Mrs Ayi told Zaa News that Mr Abdul Fatawu pledge to liaise with philanthropists for help which yielded results.

Mr Abdul Fatawu told the victims that the chief intervention in clearing items  which was locked at the port for over 4 years was highly commendable.

The victims were taking through how to use the sleeping bags under the harsh weather conditions.


” We are here for purely humanitarian purpose and not politics as you know me as someone seeking your mandate”, Mr Abdul Fatawu stated.
He pleaded with the residents not to keep the items in their rooms but make good use of them for their own safety and health.
