The Council of Elders of the NDC issued a press statement today, January 28, 2023, asking all NDC members to cease fire on recent appointments to minority leadership positions in parliament until a determination is made on this. This comes on the heels of the petition received from some members of the NDC Parliamentary Caucus. It’s however been stated clearly by the council that all those concerned should be cautious at this time to avoid giving their critics further ammunition against the NDC.
In a statement issued, the council states that it “has initiated steps to act expeditiously on the petition and related matters.” While this process is underway, the Council urges our honorable members of parliament, party leadership at all levels, and all concerned persons to refrain from further public pronouncements on the matter in the larger interest of our great NDC. This is a time to be circumspect in order not to play into the hands of our detractors.”
The Council assures the Party’s rank-and-file that the problems will be resolved swiftly and on moral grounds, and that the NDC will ultimately become “stronger and more united,” as the council states.
The Council finally appeals to all NDC members to recommit themselves to working for victory in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections in order to put an end to the suffering of the Ghanaian people.
This was signed by the Chairman of the Council of Elders, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu.
