Two young men, aged 32 and 27, have been banished from Gurugu in the Sagnarigu district of the northern region for allegedly defiling their fifteen-year-old step-sister. Strangely, both suspects are married.

The two, Amin Alabani married with two wives and Mashud Alabani married with one wife, have also been disowned by their farther-Mba Alabani for their dastardly act. The matter was sent to Katariga Kamo Naa who superintends over the area.

The two are reported to have confessed at the Katariga Kamo Naa’s palace. The community was thrown into a shock on Saturday night when the suspects were caught in the act in Mashud’s room.

Narrating the incident to Zaa News, the victim said, she went to her step-brother’s (Amin’s) room a week ago to watch television  when she was first defiled.

According to her, she said she felt asleep and her brothers forcefully had carnal knowledge with her and threatened her not to tell anyone about it.

The victim, indeed, told her mother about the incident who downplayed it accusing her of trying to peddle falsehood about her step-brothers who she least expected would engage in such an act. However, on March 12, 2016 Mashud sent the victim to buy fried yam for him with the intent to defile her.

The victim said on entering her brother’s room, she was pushed down and raped. While in the act, the victim screamed for help.

The mother of the victim who is yet to come to terms with the incident said she never thought such could ever happen in her life time.

The victim’s mother who broke down in uncontrollable tears confirmed that she was informed about the earlier rape but did not believe it.

Meanwhile, the matter has not been reported to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of Ghana Police Service, according to the Kamo Naa.
