The Wunzaligu Development Association (WUZDA), in collaboration with Tamale Metropolitan Basic Schools PTA/SMCs Network (TAMBSNET) has presented a damming report on the recent dwindling performances of Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) in the country.
According to the report, the pupilsโ performance in the Tamale Metropolis is very abysmal compared to Savelugu/Nantong, Karaga and Gushiegu districts of the northern region.
Speaking at the stakeholderโs forum in Tamale, the project coordinator of WUZDA, Issahaku Alhassan attributed the poor performance of the basic schools in the Metropolis to the attitudes of some Teachers, parents as well as pupilsโ lukewarm attitude towards their studies.
Mr Alhassan also mentioned inadequate teaching and learning materials and the high enrolment as some of the major contributing factors facing the pupils in the region. He lamented over governmentโs inability to respond to the needs of teachers.
Mr. Alhassan said some teachers cultivate the habit of going to school late. He alleged that some teachers do not teach but sit under the shed of trees discussing politics and other social issues of interests.ย ย ]]>
