Gumbihini North Yearns for Proper Sanitation

An assembly-member aspirant for the Gumbihini North electoral area Haruna Mashoud  Mahalana has organized an intensive clean-up exercise in the area. The exercise was aimed at complementing the President’s initiative of improving sanitation in the country and to also make Gumbihini North get rid of filth.

Speaking to Zaa News, spokesperson of the aspirant Abdulai Mohammed Kamil said it is the wish of the aspirant to champion the cause of improved sanitation in the area to prevent sanitation–related diseases like cholera.

Mr Kamil identified poor sanitation and lack of proper toilet facilities as some of the major challenges facing the community and promised that the aspirant, Mashoud Mahalana is committed towards the development of the community. He also assured the community of other developmental projects such as education and access roads as part of the aspirant’s medium term agenda.

The exercise saw a massive turnout with some community members allegedly expressing worry about the lackadaisical attitude showed by the immediate past Assemblyman towards concerns of the community.

According to them, when he was sworn into power as the assemblyman, he was purported to have turned a deaf ear and a blind eye towards the development of the community. For this reason, the aspirant is urging the people in the area to, as a matter of importance, vote for him to change the situation of the area for better.
