Invest in rural areas- former Mozambique president urges entrepreneurs

The former President of Mozambique,  Mr. Joaquim Alberto Chissano has urged young entrepreneurs in Africa to invest in the development of  rural areas.
The 1997 Africa Prize Laureate stated this when he briefed journalists on his mission in Ghana in Tamale. Mr Chissano was in Tamale for the University for Development Studies (UDS)  3rd annual public lecture as a guest speaker .
The Mozambique former president in the past seven years was awarded as an African leader with an amount of five million dollars.
Explaining what he use the money for to journalist, Mr Chissano said he is investing the money in his own initiatives in the framework development particularly in the rural area which will create employment for his people. 
According to the president, his country use to import lot of food and beaf from Argentina. “I am not using the money for humanitarian work” he emphasized.
Mr Chissano further explained that though the money was for him personally, he decided to help upgrade small scale farmers to go into commercial farming. This, believe will increase productivity and enhance farmers income. Mr Chissano will stay in Tamale for  the  three days UDS public lecture which ends Saturday, April 11,2015.
