A youth group of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of Tamale South constituency, Agape Founders’ Fun Club, has bemoaned the  recent activities of  their Member of Parliament (MP), Honorable Haruna Iddrisu.

The group in a press conference in Tamale today expressed its displeasure on the use of secret members of NDC to register in the expansion of the electoral college of the party. The secretary of the group, Al-Jafar Iddris, said the MP’s actions have the tendency of threatening the peace and harmony of Tamale South.

Al-Jafar alleged the intrusion of one Mr Atik who hails from the Tamale Central masterminding and remote-controlling the electorate. Mr Al-Jafar added that honourable Haruna Iddrisu engages the services of thugs popularly known as “Macho men” to harass and intimidate the electorate.

The secretary also appealed to the president John Dramani Mahama, the national executive committee, the regional executives and former president Jerry John Rawlings to call Honorable Haruna Iddrisu to order. The group cautions that these actions could mar the beauty of democracy the NDC as a party is well noted for. He further cited places such as Bulpela, Lamashegu, Sawaba where the harassments occurred during Mr Iddrisu’s encounter with the youth on 1st August, 2015.

Meanwhile, the press conference was abruptly disrupted by another youth group believed to be loyal to the MP. They were demanding explanations as to why such a media conference be organized without their notice. The youth, persona non grata, also cunningly took the distributed release from the journalists under the pretext of having a cursory look.
