N/R Journalists involved in an accident in Bole

Ten Journalists in the Northern Region have involved  in a serious accident in Bole district of the northern region. Two sustained serious injury. The crew  was made up of three ladies and seven men. 

Mr Yakubu Abdul Majeed of the New Times Cooperation got fractured left hand,  Albert Futukpor of Ghana News Agency got deep cuts on his head whiles   Suweiba Yakubu of the Daily Graphic and Alima Bawa of Bishara Radio also sustained minor injuries. 

The accident occurred just some few meters away from the Cocoa research institute in Bole at about  3:39pm  Tuesday. 

The driver of the van  told this reporter that the steering rack of the vehicle got removed and he lost control leading to the vehicle veering off the road and final landed under a bridge.

The ten journalists on board the rented American ford were taken by surprise when the van landed under the bridge few minutes after they took taken their lunch.

The journalists were covering the Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Mahama Ayariga who was in the region for a two-day working visit to acquaint himself with the environmental problems and challenges facing the sector agencies in the Norh. 

The minister expressed shock at the accident and prayed for the speedy recovery of the journalist.

 Unaccomplished  mission 

The mission of the team which comprises the E.P.A, wildlife and forestry  commission and the sector ministry was to seek Chiefs' support on the ministry's 30 million tree planting program and also to access the environmental impact of the illegal mining activities taking place at Kuye, a farming community in the Banda Nkwanta. 

The sector minister, Mahama Ayariga, the Deputy Northern regional Minister and officials of Environmental Protection  Agency visited the hospital and sympathized with the journalists.
