Tamale affordable housing is a model for other cities-President Mahama


President Mahama described the ground breaking ceremony of the Tamale international airport as historic and that all the overlords of the north make time to grace the occasion. They include chairman of the ground breaking ceremony, Kampakuya Naa Abdulai Andani Nayir, Naa Mahami Bohagu Sheriga and the Yagobnwura Tuntumba Bore Essa.

The president also re-cut the sod for the construction of the Aboabo super market which he said will be converted into Shea nut market.  

The president who was in the northern region for a day working visit inspected progress of work on government affordable housing project at Lahagu in the Tamale south constituency.

The 3 million Ghana cedis 202 bed room housing unit project is under the social housing scheme of the community led infrastructure facility.

Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people in Tamale, President Mahama said the Tamale housing project will be a model for the rest in the country.

The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly and its partners cut the sod for the project in December last year with its international Water and Sanitation for Africa (WSA), a pan-African intergovernmental organization and the Credit Union Association of Tamale.

The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru Limuna on behalf of the people of the north thanked the president describing the projects as very dear to the hearts of the people.

The chairman of the ground breaking ceremony of the Tamale International Airport project, His Majesty, Kampakuya Naa Abdulai Andani commended government for its effort to make the long awaited project a reality.
