Tolon DCE worries over Kayaye menace

0

The committee set up by the Tolon district assembly to investigate the kayaye menace in the area will soon present its findings to authorities for redress, DCE has said.

The assembly early this set up a five-member committee to investigate the increasing migration of young girls from the northern region, particularly the Tolon district, to the south in search of non-existing jobs.

Most of the young girls who migrate to either Accra or Kumasi are subjected to all kinds of inhuman treatment including those who engage their services just because they want to earn a living.

The young girls are sexually harassed which has led to some of them contracting sexual transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies.

The assembly, the DCE said, has constructed a vocational training center for the youth to learn skills to enhance their living conditions.

Addressing delegates at the 30th Annual General Meeting of Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA) in Dalun in the Kumbungu district, District Chief Executive for Tolon, Alhaji Abukari Seidu urged parents and chiefs in the area to help the assembly fight against the Kayaye menace in the district.

The Tolon DCE who worked with GDCA for about 18 years assured them of the assembly’s continued support and collaboration in helping the rural people in the district.
