A 13-years-old girl in the East Mamprusi district of the northern region was attacked and killed by an ex convict Thursday, police said.
The deceased, according to authorities was on her way to her father’s house at Namasim, a farming community in the district when she was set upon by the suspect, Hudu Bukari.
According to authorities, a few meters from her father’s house Bukari attacked her with machete. But once he realized the harm he had caused, the suspect who also hails from the same community bolted and is yet to be arrested,
The body of the deceased was later sent to the Baptist Medical Center in Nalerigu where a postmortem was performed.
In a later development, police said the suspect was accosted and attacked by unknown persons. The suspect who came out from prison some two years ago was rushed to the Baptist Medical Center where he died, authorities added.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yussif Tanko who confirmed the incident to Zaa News said the motive behind the attack is yet to be established by police investigators.
