Ghana’s Technical Universities faces eminent total shut down as lectures, administrators & securitymen strikes

There is an eminent total shut down of all Technical Universities in the country.

This is because the government is yet to address concerns raised by the Technical Universities Teachers Association of Ghana (TuTAG) who has declared an indefinite strike for almost four weeks now.

The over three weeks lecturers strike culminated in administrators also laying down their tools in protest against what they  described as unfair treatment by their employer.
The action is to press home their demands for better working conditions for the staff of technical universities in the country.

The strike which begins l, 7th October, 2019 is to also demand the release of an staff audit report conducted by the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE).
According to the Association, staff of the various technical universities are yet to receive the emoluments for university lecturers since the upgrading of eight polytechnics to universities.

The Technical Universities Security men Association declared indefinite strike.
The securitymen said the placement of their members on the pay role as applied to other public sector jobs grades in the country.

Interim arrangement factors  as it relates to other job grades, the securitymen said.
Another reason for the technical universities securitymen strike was that the government has failed to supply security accoutrements.
