GIMPA wins Impact Africa debate championship

imageThe Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has emerged winners of this year’s Impact Africa Debate Championship held in Tamale.

A team from the GIMPA community debate society beat four universities from Nigeria, one from Sierra Leone, one from Zimbabwe and the host, Tamale Polytechnic.

The four day debate, which took place at the Tamale Polytechnic Engineering Block, looked at the pros and cons of the Sudan splitting into South and North, corruption, unemployment and education on the African continent.

The debate was to sharpen the knowledge of young people in Africa and also broaden their horizons and understanding of issues on the African continent.

One Nigerian university came second with Central University placing third. Jessica Owusu Armooh from the GIMPA debating society took the overall prize on behalf of the school.

The Vice Rector of the Tamale Polytechnic, Mr Sulemana Alhassan commended the participating schools for the manner in which they comported themselves throughout the debate.
