Pupils and teachers of Choggu Demonstration Primary B School at Choggu in the Tamale North Constituency of the Sagnarigu Municipality are heaving a sigh of relief, following the rehabilitation of 6 unit classroom block.
Pupils were compelled to study under the mercy of the scorching sun after the roofing of the block was ripped off by a rainstorm and destroying some portions of the block.
Following the report and calls by school authorities, the Member of Parliament for the Tamale North Constituency Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini funded the total rehabilitation of the school block and pupils have since gone back to their classrooms.
Speaking to Zaa News Alhaji Suhuyini said, he felt the need to assist the school because the incident was affecting education in the area. Headmaster of the school, Abdul Fataw Yakubu said, they are excited that, pupils are now comfortably studying in their classrooms and teaching and enrollment have improved marginally as pupils are now very punctual and happy to be in school.
‘’This year our enrolment has increased just because of the renovation and this furniture is going to add up to make sure that we have a better school for our children’’.
He expressed appreciation to the MP for his intervention adding, that it will go a long way to raising future leaders for the area and the country at large.
