Zakat and Sadaqa Trust Fund launched in Tamale

imageMuslims around the country have been urged to warmly embrace the two principal tenets of Islam and to open their hearts and wallets to the poor and needy in society.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zakat and Sadaqa Trust Fund, Sheik Arimiyaw Shaibu has entreated Muslims to develop the habit of giving Zakat and Sadaqa which are the powerful pillars of Islam.

The two, Sheik Arimiyaw said, is a mandatory duty assigned to all Muslims who believe the teaching and dictates of the Islamic Religion. Sheik Arimiyaw made the remarks when he inaugurated the Zakat and Sadaqa Trust Fund in Tamale.

The inauguration was to create awareness among Muslims across northern Ghana about the importance of investing in the work of Allah as a devoted Muslim.

The Zakat and sadaqa fund trust has been in existence for about five years under the support of Muslim Caucus in Parliament.

Sheik Arimiyaw who is also the spokesperson for the National Chief Imam praised Muslims in the northern region for their good attitude towards the Islam, saying the zeal and passion Muslims in the northern region have developed for Islam have come very far and urged them to keep it up.

According to him, the zeal and the passion can only be sustained if they include zakat and sadaqa in their duties to help the poor and the needy in the society.

He lamented that many Muslim girls and boys indulge in numerous social vices due to the lack of economic opportunities and he gave the assurance that Zakat and Sadaqa trust fund will work hard to stop such social vices among Muslim youth.

The Zonal Manager of the Students Loan Trust Fund, Alhaji Yussif Iddrisu said his outfit will partner with Zakat and Sadaqa fund with the view of creating space for guaranteeing  student loans to increase access and enhance flexibility for Muslim tertiary students nationwide to pursue their education.
