360 JHS students to receive entrepreneurship training from AfriLEAD

AfriLEAD, a youth-led organization is hosting a four-day conference for young leaders and entrepreneurs from high schools in Ghana dubbed ’’I am running in Ghana’’. About 360 students passionately committed to creating change have been selected to attend the four-day skill-building workshop.
The conference which started since 2010, by AfriLEAD is aimed at assisting students from Ghanaian high schools to get the chance to further develop their leadership, entrepreneurship and critical thinking skills, beyond what is usually explored in their various school and communities.
Speaking to Zaa News ahead of the conference, the programs manager of AfriLEAD, Peter Awin expressed the hope that, the conference will shape passionate young people into life-long leaders by bringing them together and teaching them the skills they need to make an impact in their respective communities.
He appealed to individuals and philanthropist to assist AfriLEAD cater for participants which, he said, will cost about $15,000 and cost per participant will be about $50.
Mr. Peter said his outfit has committed civic organizations to raise about 30% of additional funding for the conference.
As part of entrepreneurship orientation of the students, participants will be selling products on their campuses through AfriLEAD's Campus Business Project to raise about 30% of the funding.
