The Northern regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu has charged all NPP members in the region, especially the newly constituted committees, to play their respective roles effectively and diligently for a very successful and incident-free conference in Tamale.

Chairman, Bugri Naabu, also tasked members of the various committees not leave the work to only the chairmen heading the committees, but must participate actively for the success of the conference.

Mr Bugri Naabu stated this when he inaugurated the local organizing committees (LOC) for the annual delegates conference scheduled to be held in Tamale on the 12th of February, 2014.

He added that there is no doubt in his mind that all party members will get seriously involved in the work to have one of the best ever organized Delegates conference in the history of the party.

Moreover, Chairman Bugri Naabu urged all the committees to be realistic in preparing their budgets and transparent in carrying out their work; bearing in mind that the funds for the conference are party members personal contributions and that, the resources must be used judiciously.

He stated that “if the conference is successful, it is not only the chairman who will receive the praise but rather the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions”.

The Chairman for the Northern regional Council of Elders of NPP and former ambassador to Germany under former President Kuffour’s administration, R.I. Alhassan advised the committee members to work together as one people and stop unnecessary complaints.

Touching on financing of the conference, His Eminence R.I. Alhassan said that is the blood of the whole program. He implored: “We must make sure that we have sufficient finance for what we want to do and that will fall on the finance committee.”

’’A lot of the work will depend on you because the amount of money you will raise is what is going to tell how the program will be. We must decide how we can raise local funds to raise up what we are going to get from the National Head Quarters to make it up”, R.I stated. He continued: “We must not wait till the end of the program and then come out to say we didn’t receive enough money from Accra because if it flops, we will be the people they will blame so we must plan ahead and know exactly what we are going to spend”. In the history of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), this is the first time a National Delegates Conference is going to be held in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale. Our sources at the party say the choice of Tamale as the venue by the National Executive Council (NEC) is to honor the late vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
