One person has been confirmed dead with 3 others sustaining various degree of injuries in the Bongni, a farming community near Nakpanduri in the Bunpurugu/Yunyoo district of the northern region.
This follows a renewed fighting between the Bimobas and the Konkombas in the area. The three injured persons have been rushed to the Nalerigu government hospital and are currently receiving treatment.
Northern Regional Crime Officer Superintendent, Alhaji Mahama Arhin who confirmed this to Zaa News said 16 houses have been burnt.
Armed police personnel have, however, been deployed to the area to maintain law and order. Superintendent Arhin said no arrest has been made so far.
Officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) from Nakpaduri and East Mamprusi districts including the two district chief executives are currently in the community to assess the situation.
A resident told Zaa News that about 5 houses have been burnt in addition to the 16 houses on Thursday afternoon. ’’Even though police from Tamale have beefed up security, we still hear gun shots from a dam located outside the community’’, he told Zaa News.
