The Chief of Salinkuga in the Zabzugu district of the northern region Naa Sumani Tiggu has been shot dead by an unknown gunman. He was shot and killed at his residence in Zabzugu opposite the Zabzugu police station at about 7 pm on Tuesday.
The late Naa Sumani Tigu died on in an ambulance on his way to the Tamale teaching Hospital.
The assailants are yet to be identified. Our sources in the community say there was a disagreement over activities of Fulani herdsmen in Salinkuga, but adds that it might not be the reason for the killing of the chief. Farm produce in the community according to our source was being destroyed by the herdsmen's cattle.
Distrist Chief Executive for Zabzugu, Issifu Alidu Laa-Bando has confirm the incident to Zaa News. The DCE who is the chairman of district security committee refuse to comment on the matter except to say the committee is cureently meeting over the incident.
