Two female students of UDS died after fire incident

Two of the three female students whose hostel got burnt at the Wa campus of the University for Development Studies have died.

The three are Grace Ankrah 25(level 400), died on Thursday February 13, while Bridgette Pamphil Boateng 24(level 200) died on Saturday February 15. Our sources at university campus in Wa who confirmed that some  course representatives announced the sad news to students in lecture halls.  

The  survivor Beatrice Bampoe 24, level 300 according our source  is still battling with the burns at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

It will be recalled that a suspected gas explosion at a residence at Dobile, a suburb of Wa, in the Upper West Region on Tuesday injured three female students of the University for Development Studies. Grace Ankrah, Beatrice Bamfo and Bridget Pamhilia Boateng sustained injuries on their faces, arms, legs and other parts of their bodies.

 They were airlifted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after initial treatment at the Wa Regional Hospital.

An eyewitness, who is also a student and a neighbour of the victims, told The Ghanaian Times that he heard an explosion on Tuesday between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m., accompanied by fire.

 He said he rushed to the scene and assisted in rescuing the ladies. According to him, the fire started from a room close to the entrance of the house, forcing the victims to take cover in a nearby room.
