The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested two men believed to be car snatchers.

The two are Abdul Gafaru Shaibu aged 26, a native of Nakpanduri and Kwabena Eric a.k.a Anwti Duku aged 30.

The suspects were arrested by the police on Monday after MTN Ghana lodged a complaint about a missing Toyota Hilux pick-up with registration number GM8523-14. The suspects were arrested through a car tracker installed in the MTN vehicle. A  Mercedes Benz C class with registration number AS2406-12 was also retrieved from the suspects

Briefing the media in Tamale, the northern regional public relations officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said the command was informed about a stolen MTN Toyota Hilux pick up in Kumasi and mounted surveillance leading to the arrest of the suspects.

ASP Tetteh said the police have every reason to believe that the suspects have been engaging in car snatching and may be members of gang of car snatchers based in Kumasi. The suspects according to ASP Tetteh will be processed for court after the police conclude their investigations.
