A government appointee in the Karaga District Assembly has been elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of the assembly.

The former Pishigu assemblyman, Husein Haruna popularly called H.H VASCO, voluntarily stepped aside in the district level elections but was appointed by government. Out of 49 assembly members, 46 voted yes and two voted no, with one rejection.

Before his election, Mr VASCO was the PM in the last assembly in the Karaga district. In his address, the PM- elect thanked the members for reposing confidence in him to superintend over the business of the assembly.

The Karaga PM said he believes that it was his hard work and selfless dedication that earned him another chance for the fourth time. He appealed to the assembly members to support and co-operate with him to address the developmental challenges facing the Karaga district.

Mr VASCO promised to be a listening PM irrespective of one’s political background. He further appealed to the assembly members to emulate the sacrifices he made in the last assembly to support the DCE and staff of the assembly to move the district forward.
