N/R: Return to school, your safety is assured – Dr. Attafuah to Students

The Northern Regional Director of Education Dr. Peter Attafuah has entreated students to return to school at their own will as adequate preparations has been made by government to ensure every student is safe at their various schools amidst Covid-19.

According to him, government has begun thorough disinfection of various schools in the country as well as distributing nose masks, hand sanitizers and veronica buckets.

He also indicated that boarding houses will also no longer be congested to ensure social distancing is practiced at various boarding schools.

Dr. Peter Attafuah spoke to the media after the commencement of the regional fumigation exercise in schools in the Northern region.

Dr Attafuah also raised concerns about some students feeling reluctant to go to school due to certain businesses they engaged in and have become engrossed with the money they earn.

He also said some female students after schools were closed down in March 2020 got pregnant and are also reluctant to return to school due to their situation.

He revealed the Ghana Education service together with other stakeholders have decided to embark on an advocacy campaign dubbed “back to school” which is aimed at sensitizing parents and students on the importance of returning to school.

The campaign is also aimed at ensuring that all pre tertiary female students whether pregnant or breast feeding, return to school when school resumes to full session this month.
