Tamale Dakpema joins national clean-up exercise

The Tamale Dakpema, Naa Alhassan MOhammed Dawuni Saturday joined hundreds of resident to clean up the metropolis in the maiden edition of Ghana national sanitation days set up the government. The Dakpema together started the exercise from the Dakpema palace at the plan time,6:am local time through some communities and later met the Northern Regional  MInister, Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru Limuna and  the Tamale metropolitan Chief Executive, Hanan Gundadoo Abdul Rahman at the Aboabu market.

Both Dakpema and the political heades took actively part in removing refuse from chocked gutters  in the central business district of tTamale.  Security services including the military, police, fire service and prison service were all in their numbers to get the metropolis out of filth that has engulf some areas as a result of indiscriminate disposal of waste.  Stores in the central business district of Tamale were closed as directed till 12 noon.

Speaking to the media at Aboabu market,  Naa Alhassan Dawuni reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the metropolis was  clean all the time. Naa Alhssan Dawuni who is championing a cause dubbed;clean Tamale, green Tamale encouraged residents to cultivate the habit of cleaness in their surroundings to avoid infectious diseases. 

He therefore appealed to his colleague traditional rulers in changing the mentality of the residents who think that cleaning the city is a sole responsibility of government and waste management companies.

The Vice President KWasi Amissa-Arthur  about three weeks ago announced that the government has designated the first Saturday of every month beginning this Saturday, November 1,  for a clean-up exercise simultaneously nationwide to help address the country's sanitation challenges.
